Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Refugee Appeals Tribunal.

Joe Costello

Question:

568 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the names of the members of the Refugee Appeals Tribunal; the number of decisions made by each member up to the latest date for which such records are available; the number of such decisions in the case of each member where appeals were allowed; the number of such decisions in the case of each member where appeals were refused; the percentages in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8155/03]

The names of the members of the Refugee Appeals Tribunal are as follows: Eamonn Cahill, SC; Aiden Eames, solicitor; Veronica Gates, BL; Dympna Cusack, BL; Eamonn Barnes, BL; Jim Nicholson, BL; Donal Egan, BL; Patrick Hurley, solicitor; Sunniva McDonagh, BL; Des Zaidan, BL; Conor Bowman, BL; Bernadette Cronin, SC; John Ryan, BL; Doreen Shivnan, BL; Joseph Ward, BL; Con Murphy, solicitor; Michelle O'Gorman, BL; Rory McCabe, SC; Leonie Hussey-O'Brien BL; Ben Garvey, BL; Declan McHugh, BL; Paul A. McGarry, BL; Bruce St. John Blake, solicitor; Denis Linehan, solicitor; Ann Tait, solicitor; John Hayes, solicitor; Gillian Hussey, retired judge; Joseph Barnes, BL; David Andrews, SC; and Michael O'Kennedy, SC.

I am advised by the chairperson of the tribunal that as his organisation is a statutory body, independent in the performance of its functions under the provisions of sections 15 and 16 of the Refugee Act 1996, it would be inappropriate for him to provide the more detailed information requested by the Deputy.
