Written Answers - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Mary Wallace

Question:

600 Ms M. Wallace asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position with regard to the extension to Drogheda sewerage treatment plant; the proposed cost of same; the proposed additional capacity that will be created; the amount available to County Meath; the amount of funding which has been applied for to his Department; when the application was submitted; when a decision can be expected; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8054/03]

The Drogheda sewage treatment plant extension scheme, which will cater for the future drainage requirements of Drogheda and the contiguous areas of counties Louth and Meath, is included in my Department's water services investment programme 2002-04 as a scheme to advance through planning at an estimated cost of €9.5 million.

Following examination of the design review report and draft contract documents for the scheme submitted by Louth County Council in September 2002, my Department has requested Louth and Meath County Councils to furnish a funding proposal for the project in accordance with established water pricing policy.

Michael Ring

601 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position regarding the sewage treatment plant for Belmullet, County Mayo; when the work on this plant is due to commence; if funding has been provided for this project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8142/03]

The Belmullet sewerage scheme is included in my Department's Water Services Investment Programme 2002-04 to advance through planning. My Department is awaiting the submission of a preliminary report for the scheme by Mayo County Council.
