Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Departmental Funding.

Richard Bruton

Question:

612 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs if he will make funding available to meet the increase in rent and moving costs associated with a move by an agency (details supplied) which depends on his Department for funding to the new Northside Civic Centre which has been a key element of the Government's programme to improve the quality of access to public and community services in disadvantaged areas. [8256/03]

As the Deputy will be aware, area partnerships and community groups receive funding from my Department to deliver the Local Development Social Inclusion Programme, which is managed by Area Development Management, ADM, Limited on behalf of my Department.

Each area partnership and community group submits an annual plan to ADM Limited outlining how they propose to address the overall objectives of the programme, which are to counter disadvantage, poverty and inequality, and to promote social and economic inclusion. These plans are assessed by ADM Limited with each company receiving an annual allocation to cover costs to carry out the actions as set out in the annual plans. Additional funding is not available and rental and moving costs, along with other expenditure, must, therefore, be met from within existing resources.
Question No. 613 answered with Question No. 606.
