Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Willie Penrose

Question:

195 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath will be paid area aid on their lands in Galway which they own together with their child; the reason the area aid is not being paid even though this person has certs and so on which proves that the land belongs to them and their child; if this matter can be immediately rectified; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7874/03]

The person named applied under the 2002 area-based compensatory allowance scheme for payment on 16.84 hectares. She is the joint owner of the 16.84 hectares with another person. My Department has issued a query to the solicitor of the person named in connection with the ownership of the lands but to date no reply has been received. Until a reply is received the application for disadvantaged areas compensatory allowance scheme cannot be considered further.

Michael Ring

Question:

196 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive the remainder of ewe premium for 2002 and the balancing payment of area based payments for lands at Ballyheane, Castlebar, County Mayo. [7894/03]

The 2002 area aid application of the person named was fully processed with an area determined for payment purposes of 35.45 hectares which includes the parcel of land at Kinturk. Balancing payment due under the 2002 area-based compensatory allowance scheme will issue as soon as possible. The supplementary ewe premium, formerly rural world premium, will be paid to the person named shortly together with the top up payment under the national envelope.

197 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Galway has not received a 2002 suckler cow grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7955/03]

The person named applied for premium on four animals under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme. The 80% advance instalment issued on 16 October 2002. Balancing payments under this scheme are due to commence in April 2003.

Beverley Flynn

Question:

199 Ms Cooper-Flynn asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Mayo can have an application for a second payment under the REP scheme reviewed. [8009/03]

REPS participants who have a penalty imposed for late application may have the decision reviewed within my Department. The person named was advised of the review system in May 2002 but he has not pursued the matter since then. The option of a review remains open to him and my officials will contact him directly to explain the procedure again.
