Vol. 563 No. 4

Written Answers - Flood Relief.

Denis Naughten

Question:

218 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Finance, further to Parliamentary Question No. 279 of 29 January 2003, the current position in relation to the report from the Commissioners of Public Works on the River Shannon; when he intends to meet the IFA on the issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7678/03]

I met with officials of the IFA on 10 February 2003 and as a result of my discussions with them I have agreed that a pre-feasibility report should be carried out to consider the question of carrying out a programme of works on the River Shannon. This report will take approximately nine to ten months to complete and will involve consultation with affected landowners.
