Vol. 563 No. 5

Written Answers - Roads Funding.

Paul Kehoe

Question:

217 Mr. Kehoe asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the percentage of income from road tax going back into the roads in County Wexford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8459/03]

In 2002, Wexford County Council, as licensing authority for the county, collected €18.6 million net of administrative costs in motor tax. Non-national road grants of just under €13 million were paid to the Wexford local authorities in the same year. These grant payments were over and above grants paid by the National Roads Authority for the improvement and maintenance of national roads in County Wexford. Details of these grants may appropriately be sought from the NRA.

Questions Nos. 218 and 219 answered with Question No. 162.
