Adjournment Debate Matters.

The following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 were received by the Ceann Comhairle, and this is a list of the name of the member in each case: (1) Deputy Stagg – the failure to sanction a furniture grant for the new €3.5 million north Kildare Educate Together school at Ballymakealy, Celbridge, County Kildare; (2) Deputy Harkin – the reason for the review on the payment of the minor works grant to primary schools; (3) Deputy O'Dowd – the proposals for broadband in County Louth with particular reference to the towns of Drogheda, Dundalk and Ardee; (4) Deputy Burton – to ask the Minister for Education and Science to make a statement on the building of a permanent school at Littlepace, Castaheany, Dublin 15 – Mary, Mother of Hope national school – in view of the many thousands of families already living in the catchment area, and the many additional thousands of homes to be built there and given that both the school and parents in the area will face serious crises unless a permanent school building is built in 2004; (5) Deputy Donal Moynihan – the need to discuss the hardship caused to pupils and staff of St. Colman's boys national school, Macroom, County Cork, roll No. 15597W, and St. Joseph's primary school, Macroom, County Cork, roll No. 10047I, due to the decision of the Department to terminate posts allocated under the Giving Children an Even Break scheme; the applications made by these two schools under this disadvantaged programme; to outline the process of appeal; to ascertain if the up-to-date information supplied by these two schools was reviewed by the ERC; to provide details of the scoring system used, the method of calculation of the points for inclusion and the cut-off points for inclusion in the scheme; (6) Deputies Healy and Hayes – That the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment establish a task force for Tipperary town to address the very serious unemployment levels in the town which have now been compounded by the loss of 150 jobs at Pall (Irl) Limited; (7) Deputy Gogarty – the need to reopen or reassess the findings of the Scott investigation into approximately 350 incidences of alleged abuse in what is now known as St. Davids in Artane and send some of the files to the DPP; (8) Deputy McManus – the increasing crisis in the Mater Hospital, Dublin with the announcement yesterday of the closure of another 115 beds.

The matters raised by Deputies Stagg, Harkin, O'Dowd and McManus have been selected for discussion and will be taken at the conclusion of business.
