Vol. 563 No. 6

Freedom of Information (Amendment) Bill 2003 [ Seanad ] : Referral to Select Committee.

I move:

That the Bill be referred to the Select Committee on Finance and the Public Service pursuant to Standing Order 121 and paragraph 1(a)(i) of that committee's Orders of Reference.

Is that agreed?

I wish to propose an amendment.

It is not possible to propose an amendment.

I propose that the Bill be considered by a committee of the entire House in accordance with—

It is not possible to propose an amendment under Standing Order 133. According to an order of the Dáil today, on which there was a division earlier, the proceedings on the resumed Second Stage of No. 1 shall, if not previously concluded, be brought to a conclusion at 3.30 p.m. and the order for Committee Stage shall be taken immediately thereafter and shall be decided without debate. I am now putting the question.

This is bulldozing.

Question put.
The Dáil divided by electronic means.

With apologies to Members who have to catch trains—

The Deputy is getting diminishing returns.

—but because of the importance of the subject at hand and to demonstrate the Labour Party's opposition to the destruction of the Freedom of Information Act, as a teller, I demand a vote by other than electronic means under Standing Order 69.

As Deputy Stagg is a teller, he is entitled to call a vote under Standing Order 69. The division will take place in six minutes through the lobby.

Question again put.
