213 Mr. Kehoe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the steps which have been taken in response to correspondence to his Department in reference to a subject (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9169/03]
I have arranged to have correspondence in this matter brought to the attention of the Garda authorities, who have informed me that in response to representations received, local gardaí have had a number of meetings with the persons referred to by the Deputy. As a result, I am informed that a number of issues are now being addressed in a systematic manner and that there is now a more streamlined avenue of communication between the gardaí and the local community.
I understand that one aspect of this co-operation has led to the conviction and imprisonment of two persons. I am assured by the Garda authorities that the particular premises in question is receiving ongoing Garda attention.
