Vol. 564 No. 2

Written Answers - Departmental Programmes.

Paul Kehoe

Question:

228 Mr. Kehoe asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the amount of funding which has been made available to date to the RAPID programme in New Ross, County Wexford; the funding which he will be making available in the future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9161/03]

My Department, assisted by Area Development Management Limited, co-ordinates the implementation of the RAPID programme.

The RAPID plan from New Ross included 20 proposals for funding under various schemes which have been forwarded to the relevant Departments for consideration. None of the proposals falls within the remit of funding schemes operated by my Department. It is a matter for each of the other Departments, therefore, to make allocations to RAPID projects from available NDP funding within their own budgets.
The Deputy should note, however, that a sum of €15,000 has been allocated by my Department to the New Ross area implementation team to support the local area in the preparation of the plan and in the implementation of the programme.
