Question:131 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a suckler cow grant for 2002 will issue to a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9191/03]
Written Answers - Grant Payments.
An application was received under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme for premium on 43 animals. The application has been processed and payment of the 80% advance instalment issued on the 24 March 2003. The payment was for 42.7 animals, being the number of suckler cow quota rights held by the applicant. Payment of the 20% balance is due to commence later this month.

Question:132 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason an installation aid grant has not been awarded to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9192/03]
An application for payment – IAS 2 –under the installation aid scheme was received in my Department from the above-named person on 6 November 2002. An earlier application had been rejected on 28 February 2002. However, this further application was also rejected by Department letter of 7 March 2003 for the following reasons:–
(a) the Land Registry folio concerned details four registered owners while only one individual is named as lessor on the lease submitted with the application; and
(b) precise details of non-farm income were not provided by the applicant.
The applicant subsequently appealed the decision to reject the application which was considered by a superior deciding officer within my Department. However, notification of the rejection of this appeal was issued to the applicant by Department letter of 24 March 2003.
