Vol. 564 No. 2

Written Answers - McCarthy Report.

Paul Kehoe

Question:

144 Mr. Kehoe asked the Minister for Education and Science when the McCarthy report will be made available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9139/03]

As the Deputy will be aware, it was decided to appoint a facilitator, Dr. Tom McCarthy, to consult with the local providers with a view to identifying the key issues in relation to primary and post-primary school provision in the New Ross area. Dr. McCarthy's report has been received and is currently under examination in the planning and building unit of my Department. Copies of Dr. McCarthy's report have issued to all trustees, boards of management and principals of schools in New Ross. A decision will be taken on how best to respond to the issues identified in the light of available resources and the competing demands of other schools. I have arranged for the issue of a copy of the report to the Deputy.
