Vol. 564 No. 2

Written Answers - Neighbour Wood Scheme.

Olivia Mitchell

Question:

155 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if the neighbour wood scheme will operate in 2004 and subsequent years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9198/03]

The neighbour wood scheme is an innovative scheme which offers considerable support to local authorities, community groups, environmental NGO's and private woodland owners to work in partnership to develop appropriate woodland amenities in and around villages, towns and cities. I acknowledge the high level of interest in the scheme, particularly at local level. The Deputy will be aware, that the continued operation of the scheme in 2004 and subsequent years will depend on the outcome of the Estimates process for those years.
