Revenue funding for the university sector is provided by my Department to the Higher Education Authority, which has statutory responsibility for the allocation of grants voted by the Oireachtas among universities and designated institutions. I am advised by the Higher Education Authority that the recurrent funding provided to each of the seven universities from 1998 to 2002 is as set out in the following table:
