38 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the instructions he has given to meat plants with respect to veterinary inspections since 1 November 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9085/03]

The veterinary public health inspection service of my Department has responsibility for the day to day monitoring and inspection of EU-approved meat plants. As part of this monitoring and inspection process and, in order to ensure a uniform level of compliance with inspection requirements, regular notices are issued to my Department's veterinary inspection teams responsible for those plants. Since 1 November 2002, seven notices have been issued as follows:
