Vol. 564 No. 3

Written Answers - Research and Development.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

108 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the degree to which research and development services are likely to be made available to agri-producers in the future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9416/03]

Under the Agriculture (Research, Training and Advice) Act 1988, the provision of research and development services to agri-producers is a matter for Teagasc. I have made €120 million available this year to Teagasc for the provision of services, including research and development, to the agri-food sector. I have no doubt that this level of funding, along with Teagasc's own resources, will enable the provision of these services to continue.

Question No. 109 answered with Question No. 107.
