Question:

174 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Education and Science the proposals he has for the provision of a learning support teacher for Galway Educate Together national school, Thomas Hynes Road, Newcastle, Galway, which has 33 pupils in the school who require learning support; if he will appoint a learning support teacher for this school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Galway Educate Together national school is currently availing of the services of a learning support teacher on a shared basis.

My Department is currently reviewing the distribution of learning support provision in all primary schools. The case made on behalf of the school in question has been noted. The needs of the school will be taken fully into account in the event of additional learning support teacher posts becoming available for distribution.
