184 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will sanction the provision of a rental grant for the provision of additional temporary accommodation at St. Cordan's primary school, Naas, County Kildare, in the absence of the sanctioning of the purchase of prefabs for the school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department grant aids the rental of temporary accommodation in respect of primary schools requiring interim accommodation to cater for emergencies such as temporary peaking enrolments, additional staffing allocations resulting from improved PTR and resource teaching posts or which are awaiting the provision of permanent accommodation. Formal application for such grant aid should be made to my Department on the appropriate form, which is available from the planning section of my Department.
I understand that an application for rental grant aid has not been received in my Department in respect of St. Cordan's primary school. Any such application from the school will be fully considered in the planning section of my Department and a decision notified to the school authorities as soon as possible.

An application has been received for rental grant aid for the provision of additional temporary accommodation at Scoil Phádraig NS, Clane, County Kildare. The application is currently under consideration in the planning section of my Department and the board of management will be advised of the outcome as soon as possible.
