Vol. 565 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin Port Tunnel.

Seán Haughey

Question:

359 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Transport the discussions he has had in relation to a possible increase in the height of the Dublin Port tunnel; if the concerns of local residents in this regard will be formally taken into account; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11066/03]

On Wednesday last, 9 April, the Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Deputy McDaid, and I met with Dublin City Council and the NRA, specifically to discuss the height of the port tunnel.

Deputy McDaid also met, on 24 October last year, a delegation from the Dublin Port Transport Umbrella Group regarding the height of the Dublin port tunnel.

There are no plans to amend the design of the port tunnel, construction of which is well advanced, to increase its height.

I understand that Dublin City Council, which is managing the project, has consulted and continue to consult extensively with local residents on all aspects of the project.
