Vol. 565 No. 3

Written Answers. - Ground Rents.

John Cregan

Question:

376 Mr. Cregan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the procedures or regulations for a private householder to buy out their ground rent; if public information leaflets are available for same; and if details of the procedure for registration can be provided. [10812/03]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that the Land Registry has produced an explanatory leaflet on the purchase of a ground rent under Part 3 of the Landlord and Tenant (Ground Rents) (No. 2) Act, 1978.

I am also informed that the explanatory leaflet and the relevant application forms in relation to ground rent applications are available on request from the Ground Rents Purchase Unit, Block 1, Floor 1, Irish Life Centre, Lower Abbey Street, Dublin 1. I am further informed that on completion of a ground rents application a vesting certificate is issued to the applicant. I understand that the Land Registry enclose information as to the registration of the vesting certificate when it is issued to the applicant on completion of the ground rents application.

I can also inform the Deputy that an in-depth explanation of the procedures in relation to ground rent applications and all the relevant application forms are also available on the Land Registry website at www.landregistry.ie.
