Vol. 565 No. 3

Written Answers. - Irish Language Funding.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

437 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the reason a group (details supplied) in County Kerry has not received any funding for the current year, in view of the fact that this lack of funding will lead to a winding down of activities by the group; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10958/03]

I must inform the Deputy that the group mentioned has made no application to my Department for funding. However, I understand from Foras na Gaeilge that an application for funding from the group for 2003 will be discussed at a board meeting on 28 April 2003. I also understand that the group received a grant of €75,150 from Foras na Gaeilge for the year 2002.
