Vol. 565 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin Port.

Ciarán Cuffe

Question:

99 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the stage of Dublin Port Company's application to infill 52 acres of land in Dublin Bay; and his views on the matter. [10862/03]

An application was made last year by Dublin Port Company for approval for reclamation of foreshore in Dublin Bay and was accompanied by an environmental impact statement. The EIS submitted by the port company has been examined to determine whether it meets statutory requirements and provides sufficient information to allow a decision to be made on the application. My Department has sought a meeting with the port company to discuss this matter and other issues relevant to the application. Decisions on the further action to be taken in respect of the application will be made in the light of those discussions. The Deputy will appreciate that it would not be appropriate for me to express any views on the port companys application at this stage.
