Vol. 565 No. 4

Written Answers. - General Medical Services Scheme.

Jack Wall

Question:

149 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Health and Children when a doctor will be appointed to Ballymore Eustace, County Kildare; the timeframe involved in such an appointment; the period a successful applicant when appointed has to fill the position; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11317/03]

The Eastern Regional Health Authority, in reply to a similar question from the Deputy on 4 February, advised that the vacancy for the post at Ballymore Eustace had been advertised, interviews held and the post offered to the successful interviewee. Unfortunately, that person subsequently chose not to take up the offered position.

The post has once again been advertised and interviews are due to be held at the end of this month. The post being offered is a full-time post which normally means until the resignation, retirement or death of the GMS doctor.
