Vol. 565 No. 4

Written Answers. - Deportation Orders.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

173 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason the deportation order against the spouse of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 will not be revoked; and if a senior official will meet this person to discuss the case. [11340/03]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 397 of 8 April, 2003 which also addressed this case. The spouse of the person concerned failed the asylum process and was subsequently deported to Kosovo. I was subsequently made aware of a marriage having taken place in Kosovo between the person concerned and her spouse following his deportation. I then reviewed the case file but did not see any reason to revoke the deportation order already made. This decision was recently communicated to the legal representatives of the person concerned.

In relation to the request for a senior official to meet the person concerned, I do not see any useful purpose in such a meeting taking place. If there are any new facts on this case they should be brought to my attention in writing and the matter will then be considered further.
