Vol. 565 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Jan O'Sullivan

Question:

106 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Education and Science if permission will be given for unused prefabricated buildings at Scoil Mhuire, Ballymanny, County Kildare, to be transferred to St. Patrick's School, Morristown, Newbridge, County Kildare, where extra accommodation is urgently needed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11226/03]

The 2003 schools building programme has now been published and full details of individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie. On the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to include any further projects including the provision of temporary accommodation in 2003. My Department is prepared to consider the possibility of re-allocating any surplus suitable temporary accommodation that it has acquired and which may become available having regard to the priority to be afforded to individual schools. The budgetary allocation for 2004 and subsequent years will determine the rate of progress on projects that could not be included in this year's programme.
