Question:124 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if he will consider offering grants or other assistance to the Anna Livia Opera Festival; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11303/03]
Written Answers. - Arts Funding.
Government support for the arts is, in the main, channelled through the Arts Council, which is autonomous in the disbursement of its funds. It would not be possible, therefore, for me to make funding directly available to the festival in question. Funding in the past has been made through the Vote of the Minister for Education and Science.
