Dáil Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 7 May 2003

Vol. 566 No. 1

Freedom of Information Act 1997 Regulations 2003: Motion.

I move:

That the proposal that Dáil Éireann approve the following regulations in draft:

Freedom of Information Act 1997 (Miscellaneous Revocations) Regulations 2003, copies of which have been laid in draft form before Dáil Éireann on 16 April 2003 be referred to the Joint Committee on Finance and the Public Service in accordance with paragraph (2) of the Orders of Reference of that committee, which, not later than 21 May 2003 shall send a message to the Dáil in the manner prescribed in Standing Order 85, and Standing Order 84(2) shall accordingly apply.

Once again, a very important motion is being referred to a committee without debate in this House.

It was agreed earlier to take it without debate.

I am objecting to it not being debated in this House.

Is the Deputy opposing the motion?

I am opposing the procedure because I believe it should be debated. I am not opposing the motion.

Question put and agreed to.
