Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Teachers' Remuneration.

John McGuinness

Question:

327 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if money owed to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who was a teacher and qualified for children's allowance payments from his Department during a period between 1976-1980 will receive them; his views on the correspondence and representations from this person regarding their case; and the position regarding their situation. [11820/03]

As the Deputy may be aware, since 1975, where both parents are teachers, it is open to one of them only to receive children's allowance. Payment is made to the parent who claims the allowance. In the case of the children in question, the allowance has been claimed and paid in respect of the period up to 31 March 1980.
