Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Psychological Service.

John McGuinness

Question:

334 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science the action he intends to take on foot of the assessment submitted to his Department by a child psychologist in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Carlow; if the new school learning and support programme will be extended to this person; if action will be expedited in this case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11938/03]

A recent review by the national educational psychological service revealed that the child in question did not meet the Department's criteria for resource teaching support. It is a matter for the school authorities to consider if the needs of the child could be met from within the current learning support teacher provision.
