Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Proposed Legislation.

Joe Higgins

Question:

360 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education and Science the legislative priorities of his Department for the current session of Dáil Éireann. [11482/03]

The legislative priorities for my Department before the summer recess are the Education for Persons with Disabilities Bill and the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse (Amendment) Bill. The Education for Persons with Disabilities Bill will primarily provide a statutory basis for the effective delivery of the constitutionally guaranteed right to education to children who have special educational needs arising from disabilities. The Bill to amend the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse Act 2000 will be aimed at resolving difficulties which have emerged in the operation of the commission.
