Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Harbours and Piers.

Michael Ring

Question:

375 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources when funding will be made available for the proposed development at Roigh Pier, Newport, County Mayo. [11589/03]

Roigh Pier is owned by Mayo County Council and responsibility for its repair and maintenance rests with the local authority in the first instance. In March 2003 Mayo County Council submitted a proposal to my Department for improvement works at Roigh Pier. The Exchequer funding available for fishery harbour development works in 2003 is fully allocated. The question of funding these works in the 2004-06 period will be considered in the context of the funding available for fishery harbours and overall national priorities.
