Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Port Development.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

383 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if, in view of the fact that his Department has had the findings of independent consultants on the current environmental impact statement by the Dublin Port Company for the proposed 52 acre infill of Dublin Bay for six months, the EIS was found to be adequate or inadequate; if the Dublin Port Company has been notified of the findings; if so, when it is proposed to notify the residents and other interested groups around Dublin Bay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11948/03]

The environmental impact statement submitted by the Dublin Port Company has been examined within my Department and by consultants engaged by my Department. Arising from this examination, certain issues were raised with the company. The company has now responded with its views and those of its consultants. A meeting is likely to take place within the next two to three weeks to discuss the various issues. Decisions on the further action to be taken in respect of the application will be made in the light of these discussions.
