492 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for Health and Children if funding has been approved to provide an additional 12 beds at Mullingar General Hospital; the date of such approval; the amount of money sanctioned; if such approval has not been given, if an application for funding has been received in his Department; the date of such application; and when it is likely to be processed. [12046/03]

Responsibility for the provision of services at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar rests with the Midland Health Board. My Department understands that the board is examining the feasibility of commissioning additional capacity at Mullingar General Hospital. Final proposals from the board in this matter will be considered within my Department.
