Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

John Perry

Question:

521 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will ensure that a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim who has been approved for the national treatment fund will be called for her operation in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, given that her condition has deteriorated and taking into consideration all the medical evidence submitted together with all the other lifelong medical conditions that she has; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12180/03]

The national treatment purchase fund, NTPF, has asked health boards to identify public hospital patients waiting longest on in-patient lists in order that they can be offered treatment under this initiative. Public patients who satisfy the criteria can apply to their general practitioners, medical consultants or to their local health board to seek to have their treatment carried out under the NTPF.

My Department has asked the chief executive of the national treatment purchase fund to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply directly to him.
