Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Accommodation.

Bernard Allen

Question:

542 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children when he received a project brief for a 50 bed rehabilitation unit from the Southern Health Board; and when he will make a response to the health board on that submission. [12313/03]

The draft brief for the proposed development of acute and rehabilitation services at St. Mary's Orthopaedic Hospital, Cork, has been received by my Department. Approval to progress this project is being considered by my Department in the context of a review of health capital projects under the national development plan. It is expected that this review, which is being undertaken by my Department in conjunction with the Department of Finance, will be completed shortly. My Department will then be in a position to discuss with the Southern Health Board the question of progressing this project in light of the overall capital priorities within the board's area and in line with funding resources available.

Question No. 543 answered with Question No. 112.
