Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Ciarán Cuffe

Question:

697 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when the attention of Dúchas was drawn to the discharge of raw sewage from Shannon Airport into the Shannon Estuary, a special area of conservation; and the action he is taking on this issue. [11401/03]

My Department was informed of the discharge referred to, only in the context of being consulted by the planning authority, Clare County Council, on 15 April last, on a planning application for wastewater treatment works at Shannon Airport, intended to address this problem. My Department has submitted observations in the matter to Clare County Council, which will decide on the planning application.
