County council areas include borough and town councils.

Paul McGrath

Question:

718 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if an application for funds to upgrade Ennell Court Estate, Patrick Street, Mullingar, County Westmeath, has been received from Westmeath County Council; the date this application was first received; the progress made on this application to date; when approval was given to proceed with a pilot project on this estate; the funds which have been approved for this project in 2003; when this project is likely to commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11700/03]

Westmeath County Council submitted an application to my Department in November 1997 for funding under the remedial works scheme for the refurbishment of Ennell Court, Mullingar. The estate was designated for funding under the remedial works scheme in November 2000 and the county council was requested at that time to prepare tender documentation for a four house pilot phase. It is understood that the county council is currently preparing plans and costings for the pilot phase which will be submitted to my Department for consideration in due course.
