731 Mr. Boyle asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of nominations and appointments made by him since 6 June 2002; and the number of and areas where vacancies for such appointments will arise and when. [11872/03]

I assume the question refers to appointments made to State bodies under the aegis of my Department.

A number of different processes are involved in such appointments. In some cases statutory selection procedures must be followed or nominations must be sought from independent nominating panels before appointments are made by the Government or by the Minister for the Environment and Local Government. In other cases only particular public office holders may be appointed to certain boards. In a number of situations, only some appointments to the body concerned are made by the Minister.

Subject to the above, the details sought in the question are listed in the following table.
