732 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the payment made to each local authority in each of the past five years under the disabled person grant scheme and the number of projects completed in each local authority area in each of those years. [12005/03]

The information requested in respect of payments made by my Department to the localauthorities is set out in the following table.

Information regarding the number of grant payments made by the local authorities in 1998 to 2001, in respect of projects completed, is contained in the Annual Housing Statistics Bulletins, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. Information in relation to 2002 is currently being compiled and will be incorporated in the 2002 bulletin, which will be published shortly.

733 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the payment to each local authority in each of the past five years as a recoupment for expenditure on fire services; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12006/03]

Under the fire services capital programme my Department assists expenditure by local fire authorities on approved proposals for the replacement-refurbishment of fire stations and the purchase of fire appliances and equipment, including communications equipment. Details of these payments for the period 1998-2002 are set out in the following tabular statement.

In addition, general purpose funding through the local government fund is provided annually to local authorities to supplement their income from other sources to meet expenditure on local authority services, including expenditure on fire services and emergency planning. However, precise amounts are not assigned to specific services.
