735 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if an application has been received from Westmeath County Council for funding to upgrade the sewerage pipe network and treatment plant in Mullingar, County Westmeath; the date of this application; if the proposed improvements have been approved by his Department; the estimated cost of this project; and when funding will be made available for these works. The Mullingar sewerage scheme is included in my Department's Water Services Investment Programme 2002-04 as a scheme to commence construction in 2004, at an estimated cost of €25.4 million. The preliminary report for the scheme submitted to my Department by Westmeath County Council in December 2002, is under examination in the Department and will be dealt with as quickly as possible.

McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if an application for funding has been received from Westmeath County Council to extend the water network to Glasson and Tubberclare, County Westmeath; the date of such an application; the estimated cost of this project; if approval has been given for this project to proceed; and the likely timeframe for these proposed works. Phase 3 of the south Westmeath regional water supply scheme includes an extension of the water supply network to Glasson and Tubberclare. The scheme, estimated to cost €38 million, is included in my Department's Water Services Investment Programme 2002-04 to advance through planning. The preliminary report for phases 2 and 3 of the scheme submitted by Westmeath County Council in late February is under examination in my Department and will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
