Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - General Medical Services Scheme.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

108 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health and Children when he intends to publish the report commissioned from a company (details supplied) on the GMS, which he received on 6 February 2003; if it is intended to implement the recommendations of the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12014/03]

The report on governance and accountability mechanisms in the general medical services schemes received on 6 February 2003 was not the completed report but a final draft document. The draft is being examined and it is my intention to publish the report as soon as possible after it has been finalised. The recommendations of the report will be considered in the broader context of proposals for reform of the health service, including those covered by the Prospectus and Brennan reports which are due to be presented to Government shortly.
