Vol. 566 No. 1

Written Answers. - Car Parking Facilities.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

141 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Health and Children when he expects to issue the promised draft guidelines for hospitals in regard to the construction of car parks which was established following the findings of the report from the Comptroller and Auditor General that one such deal involving Beaumont Hospital cost the taxpayer ?13 million; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11995/03]

I have established a group to examine the lessons that can be learned from the Beaumont Hospital project and to prepare guidelines for health agencies for the provision of structured car parking facilities in acute hospitals. The group has consulted with the relevant persons in the health sector and the Comptroller and Auditor General's office. The guidelines are being finalised and will be issued shortly.
