Question:

145 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo cannot be seen regularly at a chiropody clinic given that they are in receipt of social welfare, have a medical card, three dependent children and the person is suffer ing extreme pain yet simply cannot afford to pay for private chiropody treatment. [12466/03]

Responsibility for the provision of services for medical card holders rests with the chief executive officer of the relevant health board. Accordingly this case has been referred to the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board for investigation and direct reply to the Deputy.
