156 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 682 of 29 January 2003, the progress to date on the introduction of a vaccine injury compensation scheme and the requests by the vaccine injury campaign group; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As detailed to the Deputy in response to his Parliamentary Question No. 215 of 14 November 2002, Question No. 302 of 17 December 2002 and Question No. 682 of 29 January 2003, I met with two representatives of the Irish Vaccine Injury Campaign on 16 April 2002 and the matters raised by them are under consideration by my Department at present. My officials are continuing to examine details of vaccine injury compensation schemes in place in other countries. On completion of this examination, further investigation will take place into the clinical and administrative aspects of the most relevant models examined and a report on the issue will be prepared. At that stage I will consider the introduction of legislation for such a scheme.
157 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children further to an Adjournment debate of 21 March 2001, the number of people who received Trivax DTP Batch 3741 which have been traced; the numbers of those with a mental disability; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12500/03]
It has not been possible to obtain and collate the details requested by the Deputy in the time allowed for this question. I have asked my officials to contact the Southern, North-Western, Mid-Western and Western Health Boards and to revert to the Deputy with the relevant information as soon as possible.
