Dáil Éireann debate -
Thursday, 8 May 2003

Vol. 566 No. 2

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with a notice under Standing Order 31. I call on Deputy Sargent.

I request that Dáil Éireann be adjourned under Standing Order 31 to address the crisis in funding for Teagasc created by the Government and the loss of important research centres and advisory offices, such as Corduff in Fingal, and the need to take stock of where expert advice is now needed to ensure farmers and food producers generally are equipped for the significant challenges that lie ahead in this sector.

Having considered the matter, it is not in order under Standing Order 31.
