Vol. 566 No. 2

Written Answers. - Export Licences.

Joe Costello

Question:

54 Mr. Costello asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of Irish firms which have been written to by her Department to seek clarification on the export licences they are using to supply software to the US military; the number of firms which have responded; if she has satisfied herself with the responses received; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12267/03]

As a result of recent press reports in relation to sales to the US military, my Department wrote to three Irish companies regarding the export control issues arising from the reports. Replies were received from all three in the matter. I can confirm that based on the information provided, there have been no breaches of our export control rules by any of the companies involved.
