Vol. 566 No. 2

Written Answers. - Industrial Disputes.

Paddy McHugh

Question:

92 Mr. McHugh asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will initiate measures to ensure that cards are released to farmers from the agricultural offices engaged in the current strike; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12434/03]

I regret that the industrial action taken by members of the CPSU is continuing and inconveniencing farmers in the five counties involved. However, I understand that the union has agreed to ease restrictions in relation to herds affected by brucellosis and tuberculosis which may alleviate the hardship somewhat. I wish to assure the Deputy that I am anxious to have the dispute resolved so as to restore the Department's normal services in the areas concerned as soon as possible.
