Vol. 566 No. 2

Written Answers. - State Properties.

John Gormley

Question:

111 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Finance the measures that are taken by his Depart ment, in relation to applications for waivers of the State's interest in property vested in the State under the State Property Act 1954, to notify the public or interested parties, such as residents' associations and owners of neighbouring properties, of the application in order that they can object if they wish; and the other methods there are for interested parties to know of such applications. [12541/03]

There is no statutory obligation under the State Property Act 1954 to notify the public or interested parties, such as residents' associations and owners of neighbouring properties, of applications for waivers of the State's interest in property vested in the State under that Act. However, if an application of this nature relates to property which adjoins non-State owned property, it is the practice for my Department to request the applicant to furnish letters of no objection from the owner(s) of the adjoining property.
