Vol. 566 No. 4

Written Answers. - Legislative Programme.

Jan O'Sullivan

Question:

135 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the status of the legislation which was promised arising from the report of the Commission on the Private Rented Sector; when the private rented tenancies board will be established on a statutory basis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12964/03]

Drafting of the Private Residential Tenancies Bill 2003 has just been completed. I intend to submit the text of the Bill for Government approval as soon as possible with a view to publication later this month and early introduction in the Dáil. I anticipate that it will be formally enacted later this year. The private residential tenancies board will be established when the relevant enabling provisions of the Bill come into operation.
