Vol. 566 No. 4

Written Answers. - Army Barracks.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

179 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Defence the position in Castlebar Military Barracks regarding the annual FCA summer camps. [13098/03]

Currently the kitchen facilities within Castlebar Military Barracks are being upgraded and the electrical wiring within the sleeping accommodation is awaiting refurbishment. As safety is paramount, the sleeping billets will not be available for use this summer. It is intended, on the assumption that the present renovations of the kitchen facilities are completed in time for the summer camps that emergency sleeping accommodation will be arranged and that summer camps will take place in Castlebar. However, even if the kitchen renovations are not completed in time, there will be no question of members of the Reserve not being able to attend annual camp as arrangements will be made to facilitate personnel at other locations.
